The meaning behind our Pattern
The Afodel’s World pattern is a visual representation of our identity as an African entertainment, media, and creative production brand. It brings together African cultural symbols (ten Adinkra symbols), storytelling, film, and broadcasting to express who we are, what we do, and the connections we seek to build with our audiences.
The pattern reflects our belief that our culture inspires what we create, our stories communicate who we are, and our platforms connect us to the world.
SANKOFA: Go back and get it! A symbol of the wisdom of learning from the past to build for the future. From the Akan proverb, "Se wo were fi na wosan kofa a yenkyiri," meaning, "It is not taboo to go back for what you forgot (or left behind)." This symbol brings us back on track if we miss our way.
GYE NYAME: Except God. A symbol expressing the omnipotence of God. Probably the most popular Adinkra symbol. It is featured on Ghana's largest denomination banknote, the 200 cedi note. This symbol gives us the assurance that, except God can break Afodel's World.
ESE NE TEKREMA: Teeth and tongue. A symbol of improvement, advancement, growth, the need for friendliness and interdependence. This symbol represents the growth of Afodel's World, and the tolerance among our team members.
DWENNIMMEN: Ram's horns. A symbol of strength (in mind, body, and soul), humility, wisdom, and learning. This symbol features prominently in the logo of the University of Ghana, Ghana's first and largest university.
Odo Nyera Fie Kwan: Love does not lose its way home. Those led by love always end up in the right place. This symbol reminds us that, whatever we get involved in as a company; we must always remember our first love.
NEA ONNIM: He who does not know; from the proverb, "When he who does not know learns, he gets to know." This symbol reminds us that; it is okay to ask when we do not know. There is always room for improvement. Lerning does not stop.
NKYIMKYIM: Twisting. A symbol representing the tortuous nature of life's journey. This is a reflection of our journey so far and preparation of what lies ahead of us
AKOBEN: War horn. A symbol of a call to action, readiness to be called to action, readiness, and voluntarism.
AKOBEN: Star (literally, "child of the heavens"). A symbol of faith and the belief in patronage and dependency on a supreme being. This symbol is also a representation of popularity and stardom.
Ananse Ntentan (Ananse Ntontan) : Spider's web. A symbol of wisdom, craftiness, creativity, and the complexities of life. It is the web of Ananse, the crafty spider who is preeminent in African folklore.
CLAPPERBOARD: The clapperboard represents our commitment to creative production, performance, and bringing original ideas to life. It symbolizes the imagination and teamwork behind the entertainment we create
THEATRE: The theatre symbol is a very important part of the Afodel’s World pattern because theatre is one of the core pillars of your brand.
RADIO TOWER: The transmission tower and surrounding radio waves represent AW Radio and our commitment to broadcasting. They symbolize communication, sharing information, amplifying voices, and reaching audiences beyond geographical boundaries.
In Summary
The Afodel’s World pattern represents our identity as an African entertainment, media, and creative production brand.
